Lawrence
Lawrence Township was originally named Maidenhead by early Quaker settlers, and renamed in 1816 by James Lawrence, best known for his dying command of “Don’t give up the ship”. There are many communities and neighborhoods within Lawrence Township, however a significant majority of residents refer to Lawrence Township as Lawrenceville, which is an unincorporated community within the township and includes the Main Street Historic District. Lawrence is home to The Lawrenceville School, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Educational Testing Service and Rider University, and has many recreational facilities and programs for all ages.
